Tarpon Report – Tarpon Have Made Their Way to Sanibel!

Sanibel Island Tarpon Report…My fishing charter crews are seeing more and more tarpon every day around Sanibel and Fort Myers. We have been averaging 2-4 hookups on tarpon on a half day Sanibel island fishing charter. Tarpon fishing is the most exciting thing that I have ever experienced. Their spectacular jumps and drag-screaming runs are something that every angler should experience.Although the big migration of tarpon is still a few days away, we have a decent number of fish here now that are very hungry. I would expect the full moon this week will push a lot more fish to Sanibel and Captiva.

During the months of May and June, my charters primarily focus on Tarpon, but I do offer back country fishing charters as well. Our night fishing for snook will be excellent now through August. We primarily target snook at night with a fly rod. This is all sight fishing under the dock lights. Our backcountry fishing has been excellent for redfish, snook, and seatrout.

Shark Fishing Charters
Interested in shark fishing? The warmer water temperatures have also pushed a lot of sharks into the area. We have been able to catch them on live bait while tarpon fishing off Sanibel, and have also caught some sharks by targeting them with cut bait in Pine Island Sound.
